Due to the Gold release still being buggy/unfinished in some areas we are holding off until mid January for the 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 releases on the basis of this information:

3. Are you planning on doing a major new design or design upgrade for your 4.0 forum? There are some minor changes to the organization and conventions in the CSS style sheets in the 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 releases (the weeks of January 4 - 8 and January 18 - 22, respectively) that may affect any designs you do today. Bear in mind that this is a brand new major version release of the product and we're still assimilating feedback on what's best for our designers and skinners.

vBulletin 4.0.2 is due to be released on Thursday. Hopefully if the major issues are sorted I can begin working on the updates.

Just to get an insight, do you have a base of working versions on any of the vb4 builds soo far (gold+ 4.01)

I started working on coding Red Carbon on 4.0.1 but the StyleVars system is so all over the place I had put hours and hours of work into it, but made relatively little progress.

From the buzz on vb.com forums there is hope that 4.0.2 will fix these issues. If not, I have a plan B.

Update: Please note that we are delaying the release of 4.0.2 because we are working to improve the quality of this build, primarily issues related to RTL languages and IE browsers. Currently we are targeting the end of next week for this release. While we know this will be a disappointment to some, we feel that it is more important to get these issues resolved in this version rather than pushing them to a future one.

Realistically do you think we'll be looking at a late Feb release for skins MaestroX? Or is that a bit optimistic?

I hope not, but it's starting to look that way. I'm getting just as impatient as you guys are, believe me but if they're trying to improve the quality of the release, I can't complain with that, especially given the poor releases of Gold and 4.0.1.
