Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

Actually it does not. They are overhauling the backend in vB 4.1. The style generator just makes it easier to have simply colour changes.

Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

I have no intention arguing with you or critisizing your intentions but if VB invested time in building such a utility (even if it is just to paint as you mentioned) it means that the bitmaps are somehow finalised.

Also, VB had a very hard time supporting its decisions for changes. 4.03 helped it overcome the "rage". I find it very irrational and risky for VB to scrap the whole style system and launch a brand new in 4.1 as you are mentioning. Almost suicidal...

All I'm after is updates on what's going on, which you've provided. Thanks.

Thumbs down Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

Well.... where several other vbulletin 4 skin makers release skin after skin with updates which are compatible with every vbulletin update, it is still very silent here
not even one skin is available

how long will it take before there are updates for VB4, when VB5 comes out?

I am very disappointed on this

Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

Well, maybe he feels like Jhon from TS.

Quote:
For nearly 6 years I have designed and sold skins for primarily vBulletin but also IPB. vB was always an incredible product to design for and with it's market position, a very profitable platform to design for as well. During the last 12 months I have watched a once thriving and innovative company deteriorate to something I can't find words to describe but most certainly a far cry from being a leader any longer. I was invited and participated as an Alpha tester for the 4.0 project. I saw this as an opportunity (in a small way) to help define 4.0 and ensure it was a quality product worthy of the vBulletin name. Because of an NDA of which I am still under, I can't say all that I would like to about that experience but I can say it was eye opening. The events of the last 6 to 8 months are now old news. I, personally, have lost any confidence I might have had in Internet Brand's ability or desire to do the right thing. I cannot and will not attempt a relationship or business on that kind of foundation.

During this time described above, I have focused on IPB. I have had the opportunity to build a business and personal relationship with the leaders of that company. I must say, IPB the product and company, is light years ahead of vBulletin and worthy of my full attention. With the soon to be released 3.1 version and it's companion products, I can say with confidence there isn't a more innovative or powerful community platform on the market. Combine this with a truly customer focused company it all becomes a "no brainer".

I said all of this to say, effective July 1st, 2010, Transverse Styles will officially drop vBulletin sales and support from our product line up and will focus entirely on IPB. I hate to have had to make this decision and I apologize to all my loyal vB customers but this is the correct decision for me to make personally and professionally. To those of you that own active vBulletin version licenses, I am offering a free upgrade to the IPB versions of your skin (when they become available if yours isn't already) and a free two year extension to your support contract. This is the least I can do as I really hate to leave you all hanging! If you make the switch to IPB, I guarantee you that you will never regret it or feel the need to give vBulletin a passing glance ever again.

Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

So, if that is correct we could be waiting until the new owner has some time and the skills to go on to VB4.

I think i will not extend my subscription here, there are several designers that also make good skins.

Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

So while we were kept waiting for the 4.1 VB version to get the damned skins, MaestroX was selling the site without even a notice to his clients.

Very professional indeed!

In the sellout it states:
Quote:
Due to time issues, I have not started converting skins to the latest platform, 4.0.
No VB4 skin then and the one and only support question I had was never answered.

I feel very silly for renewing my license 4 months ago.

Re: vBulletin 4 Updates

Hello all,
Indeed the site has been sold and is in the process of changing hands. I want to make it clear that I did this with the intention that the new owner will be better able to serve customers. My situation has changed over the past few months making it difficult for me to provide updates. That tied in with the difficulties of vBulletin 4's launch has been troublesome.

Wally, which support question are you referring to? I don't have any support threads unanswered.

Once again, I hope the new owner will take vB Skin Zone to new heights and continue the high level of service that was provided for 3 years.

All the best with everyone's future endeavours.
