Install of Red Carbon

Just some forum feedback

The install of the skin Red Carbon went ok and I must say I am impressed with the facelift this skin has given the site see www.bizface.co.uk

Install was straight forward - simply load all the files via FTP to the required folders. It is not quite clear from the instructions but load the Style (Redcarbon in my case) within the images folder so the total path looks like:

www.yoursite.com/forums/images/styles/redcarbon

Then all the folders live in there - I uploaded the style into a new one created for the purpose via a normal admincp style load process and all was done.

If you have put in a lot of hacks and mods you have to carefully go through and check, reinstall all and this is where time needs to be spent For example I have a custom catagory icons mod installed and this has to be redone for each new style loaded.

Similarly I have a image mod for the vbadvanced links directory that has to be reinstalled - plus the navigation (in the header template) has to be changed to include othe modules such as PhotoPost classifieds

Just tricky but not complex and I was back up with a new look in about three hours - still a few tweaks to do but I am very happy.

cheers

Roy

Re: Install of Red Carbon

I'm pleased you enjoy the style Many thanks for the feedback. The install instructions will be moved online in the near future so we can update them easily. They also will be more detailed to clear up any uncertainties.

Remember to stay up to date, as we do release maintenance releases of our skins to fix issues that can arise and of course improve the functionality of the skin.

Regards
